    C2 Voltage Regulator -Delco D635

Is this a practical and reliable solid-state replacement for the original points-type voltage regulator?

Can't tell from the short number, but the SS V-Reg Delco was 'pushing' in their 1964 Delcotron Application Catalog to replace '515 electro-mechanical V-Regs used in Chevy 283/327 application was 1116368 and that's a 'drop-in' substitute...

      D635 is points unit 1119515

      Transistorized volt regs are:
as Jack has said: D-636 1116368 (short-lived '65 unit; missing diode to prevent burn-outs due to voltage surge on shut-off under heavy electrical demand)

D-639 = 116378 (looks identical to D-636, but improved circuit board; I've been running one on my 396 for 15 years.

There are others, for Pontacs D-637=1116370 (3-contacts); Cadillacs D-638=1116374, etc.
