C1 How did window sticker stick?

Hi all,

I just got a repro window sticker for my 1960. Most I have seen are just taped on with Scotch tape, but how were they originally stuck on?

With a cheap water-soluble mucilage-type glue.

i have a 66 window sticker that is still attached to its window glass and it appears to me that the mucilage was sloppily brushed on the window glass, extending way beyond the dimensions of the sticker. mike

Not sure about the application during the C1 years, but in the C2 era they used a bench-top tray and roller arrangement (kinda like a miniature version of what you use for pre-pasted wallpaper) that applied the glue to the front side of the sticker.
