It's been just about a year since I sold my '72 LT1 and I've realized that I made a mistake - so, I sold one of my 67 Zs and am back in the market for a '70-'72 LT1. Can anyone suggest any good web sites I can visit to begin searching for a replacement? I would prefer a private sale vs. a dealer. Thanks, Mark

Re: Help finding LT1
Hi Mark,
I've seen several LT-1's on line at Autotrader.com and at cars.com over the past year or so. I have a 71 LT-1 that I started the restoration process on before I got remarried 2 years ago and started remodeling the house. Hopefully I'll get back to it this summer. I've seen quite a few LT-1's at Merschon's, ProTeam, and at C'NV but they are all pushing $20K or more. Living here in Illinois I do see quite a few at Bloomington Gold and at the Spring and Fall Chevy Vettefest shows. Maybe you can have better luck finding one there. Good luck and let me know if you find one. I'll keep my eyes open and let you know if I run across one for sale.

Re: Help finding LT1
Mark,
Don't be in a hurry. Remember the bottom line is you are buying a used car. Don't ignore The Driveline. At least there you are buying from a fellow club member - does not mean they are not a dealer, however.
Best to decide before you go hunting what your quarry is. That is, decide if you want a driver, show car or what 90% of the world wants - both. Check out each prospective purchase yourself.
Good Luck

Re: Help finding LT1
Calvin, thanks for the response. I've been checking the Auto Trader on-line as well as ebay and a few other sites daily. I agree that the prices have definately risen over the past 2 years. I bought my LT1 in '98 for $16,500 and it had 32,000 miles, the most beautiful original paint I've ever seen and was completely numbers matching. The only downside to the car was a previous owner's excessive use of gloss black rattle cans under the hood ;) Anyway, I'm sure I'll have to spend a few more dollars today to buy a comparable car. I'll let you know what I find. Mark- Top

Re: Help finding LT1
There's one heck of a beauty ('70 convertible) that's been advertized on/off by Darwin Kuhlman in the Rocky Mountain Chapter newsletter (newsletters are available for open download at 'NCRS-RMC.ORG'). I have a feeling Darwin is reluctant to widen his ads to enhance the chance of his 'baby' leaving town....- Top
