When I purchased my otherwise #s matching 1970 LT1, the distributor had been replaced. I have the original distributor, but most of its components need to be replaced. When I rebuild it, I'm thinking about using Pertonix's Flame-Thrower II and ignition coil. Obviously, they're not original components, but it will all be hidden anyway. Besides, the distributor in the car now is not original. Any feedback? Experience with Pertonix? Also, does anyone know where I can find some instructions (preferably illustraded) on reassembling my old AC Delco distributor? There's nothing on AC Delco's website. I'm pretty comfortable with the rebuild, but a little extra help never hurt. Thanks guys.

Re: Distributor Rebuild
Frank,
I've used both the Pertronix and Breakerless SE. Both worked well, but I would recommend the Breakerless SE over the Pertronix unit. The Breakerless SE does not have the extra wire from the distributor, which makes it more stealthy. The Breakerless SE can be purchased through Lectric Limited. Just my opinion.

distributor
I've noticed a lot of Corvette owners shy away from the OEM distributor, and I'm not really sure why. There are the owner's of modified vettes that have little of anything stock under the hood, and that's fine. But unless you're using it as a daily driver, and want complete reliability, or your're racing it, what's the big concern for not using stock? Sure point gap / dwell need adjusting, but for me, that's half the fun: tuning, tweaking, keeping myself involved with it. Just my unsolicited .02- Top
