Can anyone tell me the correct color ( black or grey ) on a 66 hubcap. I have a friend that wants to restore his hubcaps, but the dark area is faded to a light grey and we really don't know what color it should be. Also, any paint company recomendations?

Long Island Corvette sells this paint in spray cans: 65-66 hub cap paint.

VHT cast iron looks pretty close. I spent quite a bit of time experimenting with different paints and came to the conclusion you really can't duplicate the factory paint. I decided I'd rather have slightly faded original paint, and bought a set with the factory paint still in tact. If the paint is faded, but still all there, you might try Krylon satin clear over it. It will darken it up and still maintain the original dark, grey color.Comment
