My engine(unrebuilt 350HP) normally idles steady at about 650RPM when warmed up, which is where I like it. Occasionally it will idle steady at about 900RPM , again warmed up. With the choke fully unloaded, fast idle cam not engaged and throttle lever against the idle adjustment screw, what can cause an idle speed to change from one time the car is driven to the next. There is no binding anywhere and all other functions are fine. The carb is an original #3367 with all original, stock components. It has a rebuild kit in it and runs fine in all other respects, acceleration etc. Is there something in the idle circuitry that can be adjusted, cleaned or whatever? If it is wear due to age, what is it that actually wears that can cause this and what is the remedy? I posted this previously, but the problem has recently resurfaced. The problem will go away on its' own, but I would prefer to actually fix it permanantly.
