    C2 Horns Weak

My horns on my C2 are really weak sounding. It started after replacing my turn signal lever and switch. Any suggestions? Ive checked connections and nothing seems to improve it. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

problem probably resides in the horns themselves. take em off the car so you can turn the star-headed screw on the horn body(much easier to do on workbench). turn the screw clockwise about an 1/8th turn then counterclockwise 1/4 turn then 1/8th turn clockwise(back to original setting). put 12 volts to the puppy. sometime a light tap on the star-headed screw works wonders. once it starts blowing experiment with slight clockwise and counterclockwise rotations of the screw to get max. decibels. if this doesn't work, may be time to send the horns out for rebuild( new diaphrams and or transformer). good luck, mike

      Mark -

If they were fine before replacing the switch, it's probably a bad ground connection between the cancelling cam brass surface, horn brush assembly, and the end of the "leg" on the horn contact assembly; make sure all those contact surfaces are clean an shiny.

Checked everything over and sure enough, it was in the horns. When I pulled the first one out to check it, I found the problem. They were full of water! I left the openings turned slightly up after re-installing them. I cleaned them out and dried them up and they work like a charm again. What a bonehead. Hose me down and call me bubba.

        Thanks for the advice,
