Re: PF-25 on ebay now for $244.50
They've been GM (Delphi) discontinued for a couple of years now. Plus, there were several variations of this filter depending on when it was originally made (white vs. blue can, bottom of can embossed or not, versions of label + bar code ID on later era blue can units).
Some restorers take almost 'foolish' pride in their restorations and want only factory original, no deduction, parts regardless of the economics of finding and obtaining those scarce parts. BUT, for the filter to have bid to this $-level, you can be sure there were AT LEAST TWO folks who wanted it that bad!- Top

If it's a WHITE PF-25 WITH embossment on the bottom, it may bring this much (or more). These filters are quite rare and usually sell in the range of $300-500 on eBay. I've even seen a few sell for MORE than $500. In my opinion, it's foolish to pay this kind of money for these things, but some folks think otherwise. It's a VERY high "dollar-per-point" sort of thing. Nevertheless, whether it's foolish or not, these filters are quite rare and they are not reproduced (with embossing).
If it's ANY other PF-25 variant, it's not worth anything like $244.50. There are still WAY too many PF-25's around to bring much more than a modest premium over their original price. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

It went for $326
Joe,
I think it is the white embossment filter you were talking about.

Yup, it sold in the range of what these things go for. The seller is wrong about one thing, though: he say's that this is a "100 point filter". I don't think that it will get anyone 100 points in any sort of judging event (Corvette, Chevelle, Camaro, etc.). It may get you 100 PERCENT of the raw points assigned to the oil filter (about 5-10 raw points for Corvettes), but it won't get anyone 100 points. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

It's even a higher point-per-dollar thing when the reproductions only result in a 1, at most 2, point deduction if you remove the white paint from the bead on the upper edge of the filter.
