Stinger Hood Paint

We will be painting next Sunday my 67 BB Naasau Blue with a white stinger. I need to verify the stinger stripe width. I have the drawing from the assembly book but I am not sure of the dimensions. The outer stripe is shows .12 with a gap of .31. How do you translate the dimensions into fractions of an inch. I think .12 is 1/8. I need some help with the layout. Thanks.

0.125 is 1/8 inch, 0.3125 is 5/16 of an inch..... but, stop at a drafting supply store and pick up a small ruler that reads in hundredths rather than fractions and you won't have to guess. Or, you could use a set of feeler gauges to get the correct width/thickness.

By the way, there's a pretty good layout of the stinger paint, I believe, in a softbound book by Richard Newton: "Corvette Restoration Guide 1963-1967. I don't own a copy, but NCRS has it for $25, and my local Border's bookstore carries it at $30 (or just go take a peek).

Al, I'm presently restoring my L-71, 67 coupe. I bought a 67 hood stencil kit from Eckers for about $85.00. I have heard good and bad about the stencil kit as per doing the projected way you have planned. Sounded like most members liked the method you are approaching.I went with the stencil kit just in case my shop wasn't sure of the correct measurments etc. I only want to paint the hood once and not turn it into a project. Somewhere early last month or late feb the stinger hood question came up about stencil vs measured method.
