61 rebound strap

Overall length of rebound strap is 29.50 for 61
My question is the distance between bottom of axle housing and strap?
Sure seems very tight on mine about 1/4 inch.

Just measured my original 61 straps hanging on the wall at 28.25".
New springs, no weight or highly arched springs will reduce distance from strap to housing.
Distance without any weight/engine/trans/gas/shocks or radius rods attached is less than 1/4" on my 61.

My '57, at normal ride height, had about 2-1/2" from the rebound straps to the bottom of the axle tube.

My '62 with 44 year old springs is 1-1/4".
