    Mileage Points - OOPS???

Has anyone looked at the 'NCRS Judging Awards' web-page lately and under Flight Awards Point System...I just did and found this statement:

" * mileage points are added to raw score at the rate of 45 per 100 miles driven, up to 10% of your raw score maximum. The car must score at least 75% to be eligible for these points."

According to my Sixth Ed. JRM pg. 16 Driven Mileage Points are calculated by multiplying the mileage by 1% (.01)...

I think there maybe a little typo here :-/

It's two different way of saying the same thing.

    100 miles driven = 45 points. 45 points out 4500 maximum = 1%

      Re: Mileage Points - OOPS???

Mike, I find your reply contradictory. While I agree with the second part of your statement, the way I read the statement it agrees with the first part only. How can 100 miles equal 45 points? Shouldn't it be 100 miles = 1 point? Then 4,500 miles would equal 45 points.

Again, the statement says " * mileage points are added to raw score at the RATE of 45 per 100 miles driven...", that's impossible. But according to that, if I drove 50 miles I would get 5 points up to the max 45 or 10% of raw score, instead of 1% or .5 points. I might not be a wiz at math but this seems more logical to me.

      What am I missing?

        Re: Mileage Points - OOPS???

Re-read what Mike said... The old system scored the car and divided the actual judging points earned by 4500 to convert the car's judging point score into a percentage (4500 points = 100% therefore 45 judging points = 1%).

I think once you wrestle with the concept you can either express the mileage drive bonus in terms of a final score precentage or in terms of raw judging points, the 'new' complex math will make sense.

Maybe you're confusing judging/mileage points with percentages.

During Flight Judging, a car starts with 4500 'points'.So 4500 points = 100% of possible final score and 45 would =1%

Driving credit can then be expressed as a rate of 45 points per 100 miles, or a rate of 1% per hundred miles of final score.

The key word is "raw score" (out of 4500 points), not "percentage score", which is converted from the raw score. 45 "raw score" points = 1% of 4500.

                      Ooops! Examples

Sorry. My response above did not look like that mess above when I sent it.

I had a table of five cases with points from mileage. Essentially, you get .45 points for every mile you drive (as your odometer goes, not as the crow flies). As long as your raw score is at least 3375 points (75% of 4500), the maximum driving points is 10% of your raw score.

If you topped out with a perfect score of 4500 and you actually drove your trailer queen 1000 miles, you would achieve the maximum total points.

I'm not so sure there is a verification process. I think the honor system is used.

                            Correct, Tony!

There are no 'milage police' at NCRS. We take a fellow member's word on how many actual miles were driven (or trailered) bringing the car to the meet as gentlemen do accept the word of other gentlemen.

I thought you only got the points for actually driving the car to the meet. Do you get the same points for bringing the car by trailer?
