C2-Oil Change

I'm ready to do the annual spring oil change and have a question pertaining to the different brand of available filter elements. Is the quality of these filters pretty much the same or is one brand better than the other? In the past I've used AC Delco but I happen to have a new Fram filter element that I could use. However, I read an article somewhere that the quality of Fram oil filters isn't that good. Thanks

If you can find a AC Delco, go with that. Fram filters aren't very good.

For a cartridge-type filter, I think you'll be ok with the Fram as long as you have it. I don't like Fram, myself, but they are fully approved for use on new vehicles (with warranties). As long as you have it, you might as well use it.

The next time I'd try to get an AC-Delco filter. However, I fully expect that "manufacturing consolidation" will soon occur for these old filters, if it hasn't occurred already. This means that the filters you purchase in an AC-Delco box might well be exactly the same as those in a Fram box. I just don't see how economics can justify multiple manufacturing sources for the kind of volume these things must generate these days. It's even harder for me to imagine that the AC filter division of DELPHI, which currently supplies most of GM and AC-Delco filters, would still be in the business of making these filters. They might do it in some off-shore factory, though.
