I took the seats out of my '66 to lubricate the tracks. Can anyone recommend a good cleaning and lubricating process? It doesn't seem that easy to get the lubrication where I think it needs to go. I don't want to use WD40 or anything that will leave an odor.

Re: '66 seat track lubrication
Howdy Rob,
If your seat covers are still on the frames, protect them. Most cleaners won't do them any good. We used Berrymans B-12 carb cleaner with good results on the tracks in my '66. For lubrication, "lubriplate" worked fine. I wouldn't use chassis grease, it will dry and harden. If you turn the seats upside down and use a hair dryer to warm the metal, then work the tracks back and forth while applying the lubliplate, you should be happy with the results. Bill- Top

Re: '66 seat track lubrication
Why don't you take the tracks off the seats and then you can clean them any way you want. Just 4 bolts per seat. I cleaned mine and then used Ultra Flat Olive drab krylon paint. Came out very close to original. Most of original finish was gone....- Top

Re: '66 seat track lubrication
Hi Rob
What Steve said about removing the tracks is the best way so you don't get an odor on the seats and you can clean them good. I would recommend White Lithium Grease. It comes in a Spray Can and can be purchased at any automotive store. I'm using it on my tracks.
