    1960 gas cap

    I have a very nice orginal Stant gas cap but the gasket material is gone. Any one have and idea about a new gasket for this and what was the orginal material made out of. Thanks for any help john

    I believe that the original gasket material was a cellulose fibre-type material (i.e. thick paper). If I recall correctly, it was tan in color, but it might have been gray. I think that you can find this type of material in auto parts stores in bulk. Then, just "cut your own".

      Give John Pirkle (Masters City Corvette) a call they my have one, I know they restore gas caps.

        Thanks Guys; I went to the auto store, one that has been around for years and they had the material Joe talked about, and in the right color. john
