My 1958 is silver blue with white coves. I'm told that the silver blue cars did not come with a white cove option. Will this cost me a big point deduction?

Re: 1958 color combination
Don't know the answer , but if you don't mind, I have a question on a similar but different vein. I have a '58 that I bought in 1974. It was painted a Cadillac green. All indications are that it was originally Silver Blue with a Red interior. Plenty of places where those colors and only those colors were not painted over. It seems that the guides I have seen don't seem to recognize that color combo until a year later. How is this treated for judging? Sorry if I am horning in on your question, but maybe we can expand the discussion and anyone can answer with your question as a priority.- Top

Re: 1958 color combination
Option 522 was the reverse of what you describe.
Do you know, or can you find, the history on your car? I don't know about the points deduction, but I'd do some research to determine IF it came that way.
Don't paint the car to suit the judges if you have proof it was delivered that way. If the dealer did it for the first owner, I'd also consider doing it again (if you like the combo).
My brother bought a 67 Super sport in a non-standard color. It was first painted a Cadillac color, (somewhere) in the factory.

Re: 1958 color combination
My uncle in Conn. Bought A new 58 fuel car in the fall of 57 WITH this exact color combo. I remember the car very well altho I was 5 at the time. ALL of his cars were light blue a trademark for him. He later switched over to XKE's and Aston Martins. As my mother told us "He wouldn't have our fingerprints around if we wern't related".- Top

Re: 1958 color combination
Imagine it is a fairly rare combination and a little jarring to the eye. But maybe that will help track down the history. I'm in western Massachusetts where I bought the car in 1974. Anyone remember a '58 of this color? I've emailed Jay in the post above asking for more info on his family connection in Connecticut. Thanks for any help.- Top
