I am reading the judging manual and think the hood latch mounted on the underside of the hood would be completely black? The recieving latch on the firewall could be cad or black? my latches on the firewall are rusty, could I paint them the proper black and not loose juding points or do I have to find a cad plater? Please help. Anyone suggest a good cad plater or is there a good repo recieving latch out there?

Re: 60 hood latch and reciever, Paint?
Been wondering about that too. The way I read the manual is that those items were installed before engine compartment blackout and therefore they would be black. However, the paint wouldn't adhere real well to these parts and it would come off. On my #3062, the paint has pretty much come off the latches entirely although some remnants remain. Most is in place on the male latches. I'm guessing that upon delivery, these would have been black except where the male latch makes contact with the firewall latches. Re: 60 hood latch and reciever, Paint?
This was discussed just recently...
Hood male latches were black, the female engine compartment latches were blacked-out as they sprayed the firewall, leaving the cad - plating exposed near the front. I believe judging will accept completely black female latches.- Top

Thanks everyone I am going to make them black. That is much easier than cad plating.- Top
