    Door Jamb Area

If someone has a picture of how the door jamb area on a 66 coupe should appear would you please email it to me at repruet@centurytel.net . My painter and I are having some difficulty understanding what the JG is telling us on page 16 Door Jambs coupe concerning door jamb area. We can't figure out where the exterior colr(silver) and the interior color(black) meet.

    Thanks

    Rodney

Re: PS on Door Jamb Finish

PS; Pay close attension to the final finish on the door jamb area, it must be dull for the Judges to like it.

(Even though the original did have a shin to it -- however NCRS does not agree. Remember he who has the gold rules.)

Have a convert, so may be different.
    Good Luck

Re: PS on Door Jamb Finish

Alan: ncrs judges don't want the jamb areas to be ultra-smooth and ultra-shiney as is the case if one block sands and buffs lacquer or if one uses base/clearcoats. agree originals had somewhat of a shine but not super smooth and super shiney. we'd like the jambs to look like they did when they left the paint booth at st louis. Gold doesn't dictate what is in the judging manuals but rather what experienced judges/manual creators have determined to be original from research and years of observing Bowtie type vettes. regards, mike

        Rodney -

The "spine" on the inboard side of the lock pillar is the color separation point; the outside is exterior color, and the inside is interior color - the masking point is the "peak" of the spine, from top to bottom. The cap at the top on a coupe is painted the same way.
