What are the differences between a 63 and a 67 soft top frame? Are hardtop only cars prepped with all the mounting brackets to just bolt a soft top in? Is Tom Crockett still around. Anyone got a good phoone # for him? Thanks, Scott Lucas

Re: 63 -67 soft top frames
63-64 had a round middle bow. Sometime in 65 the bow changed to a retangular design. When a car came hard top only, the reciever bracket where the frame would normally be attached was installed. One bolt just like the ones that would normally attach the frame was installed so that the bracket would not rattle.- Top

Re: 63 -67 soft top frames
The 63/64 Judging Guide, page 24, calls for the no. 1 bow to be 3/8" dia. However you may find it to be 1/2". If so it may also be an original frame - so don't throw it away. Not sure why the 3/8 only is referenced but I've seen many with the 1/2".- Top

Re: 63 -67 soft top frames
Scott,
Not sure of what brackets Wayne is referencing, but I don't think a hardtop only car would have the soft top rear pin recievers on the deck lid. At least the judging guide states this hardware shouldn't be present on a car presented as a hardtop only car.
If these recievers are present and the softtop isn't under the rear deck, you will get a 50% deduct on the hardtop regardless of condition of ther hardtop.

Re: 63 -67 soft top frames
Maybe I could have been more clear. The plates that are down in the rear door lock post, that the bolts go into to hold the top frame, were there. They were locked into place with one bolt to keep them from rattling. None of the other hardware attachments were there.- Top
