    C3 (72) rear spring

Reading the post back a few days ago Rob Musquetier was talking about his rear spring. He found out that his ended up to thick.(Eaton spring) I also bought a 9 leaf spring from Eaton and mine ended up to be 2and9/16" thick. Is this good or as Gary Beaupre said in the same thread it is to be 2.121". Will the ride hight be way off with the thickness difreance? Looking at the Production manual it looks like the ride hight should be 26.80". I took this off of UPC 0, sheet 13, Average Hights (R) conv-std suspension.
Allso what is the correct bolt lenght and is there one flat washer or two with a lock washer.
    Any help would be great.
    Thank You,
    Rob

    Rob------

The leaves on the Eaton reproduction spring are thicker than the originals. So, this causes the overall spring thickness to be a bit greater. Consequently, it may be necessary to use slightly longer spring retaining bolts. The original bolts were 3-1/8" overall length. The later GM replacement bolts, now also discontinued, were 3-3/4" overall length.

No flat washer was used in this assembly. It was just the bolt, a lockwasher, and the spring retainer plate.

      Spring stock

      Guys,

Hopefully someone will contact Eaton Detroit Spring and check with them about the rumor that they now have access to at least one of the correct 0.214" and 0.194" spring stock, that they did not have when I wrote my first spring stories a few years ago. At that time they were using a constant 0.237" stock, but someone told me about a year ago that they have some of the thinner stuff now.
