I am beginning a restoration on a '68 Convertible. While removing the gas tank, I noticed an electric fuel pump mounted just under the tank on the right side of the car. The mechanical pump also is in place and connected. The owner thought the electric pump is somehow related to the alarm system in the car, i.e. when the alarm system was armed, power to the pump was cut off. Wiring is incomplete, can't determine if that's how it might've worked. I've not seen anything on this in any of the literature I've checked so far. The alarm has the key in the rear of the body, and a large siren up between the headlights. No mention of an alarm on the gas tank sticker. Any thoughts?

Re: '68 Fuel Pump

No electric fuel pump was ever originally installed on a 1968 Corvette, whether equipped with an alarm or otherwise. If the car was originally equipped with the optional UA-6 alarm system, there will be a lcok cylinder for arming/disarming the system located on the rear panel. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
