    HOT Light Switch

When the lights are on, the switch stem on my '80 gets extremely hot. Tried a new switch--same problem. All lights work properly. Where do I go next before my car melts?

    Re: HOT Light Switch

More than likely you are driving with the dash lights turned down. The resistor for the dash lights is causing the heat. Remember 100-110 degrees is somewhat painful to touch for some people.

Another possibility, but you should have taken care of this when you replace the switch, is a loose connection. Check all connections on the switch to make sure that they are tight.

If the obvious stuff Dick mentions does not work - you may want to measure the current draw and then ask if its normal (not sure at this point what it should be, however it can be calculated)
