87 day of 1970,1980,1990 one with a 3 digit code went for $9K on ebay. these were used on ZL-1s i have 2 but they have a 4 digit date code because they were over the counter

      restampers love these

You have to be careful buying carbs anymore, apparently the restampers can now redo with a vintage date code and it's not easily detected, so one of them may want to buy it.

---------That "expensive" Holley on E-bay was refused by the top bidder. Dont know if the second bidder took it or not............Bill S

          Bill,

I understood that the whole price war on that 4296 was over the next highest
bidder NOT getting it. I guess those two like each other......

            Re: restampers love these

There was a great discussion about the 4296 over @ yenko.net many months ago.

It appears that many of the 69 ZL-1 Camaros were shipped with 4346 carburetors
instead of 4296's due to a functional problem between the secondary accelerator
pump arm and the ZL/2 induction setup (incorrectly called Cowl Induction ).
Frankly, I was amazed to learn this. It was verified so I am told.

Perhaps that explains the 4296 carbs that seem to be all over these days.

Sounds like the L-88's were the majority of the uses for this carb.
