    68 Door Sill Question

As my car is 99.8% complete, now I am trying to install the door sill plates and the NCRS Judging manual does not state the size of the screws to be used to attach the sill plates to the body. Only states they should be cross head oval and not larger than the countersunk portion of the hole in the sill plates. As my holes in the body have all been enlarged or stripped , I need to bring them back to original size so I need to know the CORRECT size of the screws used to attach the sill plates. I can't use the existing holes as guides as they would likely be incorrect as they have been enlarged. Should they be #10-16 or #8-18?
I would like to search all the local auto parts stores tomorrow (Monday, day off) so I can attach these plates and finish my interior.
    Thanks for any input

Kurt, I believe these are #10 sheetmetal screws with a #8 head. You will find these at most professional auto parts stores, i.e. NAPA, Carquest, etc.

Mine are black and not chrome. As the holes in the sill plate are in the blacked out portion I'm sure you want them to be black. You should be able to get them at Corvette America. If I remember, that is where I got mine.

          Kurt,
My 1970 has black on the screw heads. I haven't had them out, but I would assume (yes I know about that word) the entire screw is black. I suppose one could take it that 1969 screws are the same, but you might want more folks with original 1969s to chime in about the color of the screws before you go to any great lengths to get new ones.
