I seem to remember reading somewhere that in 67 no big blocks were produced at St Louis. Is this correct? I'm looking at a big block 67 with what appears to be matching numbers, but the trim tag says it is a St Louis car!

Re: C2 St Louis big block
All of the Corvettes in 67 were built in St. Louis. Bodies were also made in Ionia by A O Smith, painted, and then shipped to St. Louis by rail where they were united with the frame and finished. It is generally thought that most if not all of the big blocks were made in St. Louis. A O Smith couldn't get the BB hood stinger right and all BB production was then relegated to St. Louis.
There is an excellent article by our own John Hinckley in the recent Corvette Enthusiast that goes into more detail in the AOS vs. St. Louis bodies.

Re: C2 St Louis big block
this is from John's article... "the physical layout of the A O Smith paint shop wasn't conducive to the time consuming and labor intensive masking required to paint the colors on the big block "stinger" hood and header panel, and their personnel were never able to master the masking process. As a result, it's generally accepted that very few 67 big block bodies (or none) were built at A O Smith after the first few weeks of 1967 production."
I think John was in St. Louis in 67. So if a few BB did slip through from A O Smith during the first few weeks you'd think it would be an August or September car with a VIN in the 1000-1500 or so range (just a guess). JMO
