I live in New Jersey (Union county) and am trying to find a reputable engine builder who performs quality rebuilds and understands corvette engines. I would prefer to find someone close by, but I would be willing to travel (within reason) to have the work done by a professional. Can any of the members recommend, with confidence, someone in this area with whom they have had a good experience and no problems? I'm working on restoring a '65 327/365 hp roadster and will probably need the engine rebuilt this summer. I'm a new member to the NCRS and look forward to the benefits offered by this fine organization and its members. Any assistance provided would be most appreciated. Thank you. Joe

Joe,
Can't help you with an engine rebuilder as I am in Massachusetts but wanted to say "Welcome". This is a great forum and a great organization . Lots of knowledgable people here who are very helpful and can answer most any question you have. Enjoy,

Re: Reputable engine rebuilder recommendation
Hi,
I live in Hunterdon probably an hour from you. When I needed my '63 redone, I went to Tony Fiel in Raritan. Tony has been building racing motors for many many years. A friend of mine who helped me with my project knows Tony for years and introduced me to him. The shop was very impressive and the work excellent. If you are interested shoot, me an e-mail and I will send you contact information.- Top

Re: Reputable engine rebuilder recommendation
Joe,
I had my 69 small block engine rebuilt by Jack Kitchell. You'll have to pull the engine and take it to him. He's located in West Milford, NJ. He builds race engine and is very meticlous with his work. He pulled my engine apart while I was there. He isn't cheap, but the rebuild is first class. I don't have his ph# with me but e-mail me if you're interested and I will send you his info.

Re: Reputable engine rebuilder recommendation
You might try Pat Musi Performance, 377 Roosevelt Ave., Carteret, NJ (just of the NJ Turnpike). 732-541-1919. www.patmusi.com.
Besides building legendary racing engines, Pat has a few beautiful C-2s of his own, plus does work for others. He has a complete engine rebuild shop including a dyno room. Pat is a very friendly guy who knows Corvettes and can hook you up with everthing in the supply chain including an excellent local carb rebuilder should you need that. He can remove and replace the engine for you too. Moreover, he knows how to handle custom jobs such as not to decking the block so as to preserve your original numbers.
Drop him a line or stop by the shop. His daughter Rose runs the front office.
Regards,
Mike- Top
