1957 single WCFB- painted or NOT painted

1) Can anyone tell me if the CLIP on the thermostat housing for the carburetor spring is painted chevy orange or left unpainted???

2) Does the engine OIL DIPSTICK and HOUSING get painted chevy orange; black; or is left unpainted???

How about the CLIP on the thermostat housing, the one that holds the return spring for the carburetor???? Does it get painted chevey orange??

Am I to assume that if the NCRS JUDGING MANUAL leaves out whether a part is to be painted, it means LEAVE IT NATURAL !

In 58-62 it was painted. If you leave it unpainted, then you have to disturb the paint on the bolt that holds it to the thermostat housing, because the bolt would have been painted first, and then the bolt removed to install the clip. Do NOT assume that if the manual does not call out the finish that it should be natural. You know what ass-u-me means!

The '57 A.I.M. sheet for the throttle linkage doesn't call out a part number for the return spring bracket on the thermostat housing, which normally means that it was part of the engine assembly as received from the engine plant; if it was indeed part of the engine assembly, it would have been painted orange.
