I am having the original radio installed back into my 1966 327/350 convertible. The radio grill is not sitting flush with the dash. I have read this installation may be difficult. Any words of wisdom?

Update to my previous comment.
Richard,
I thought you were referencing the speaker grille but I read your post again and I think you are talking about the surround that goes around the face of the radio. I also think there is not a consistent fit with this piece especially if it has been tweaked a little. These usually do fit better than the speaker grille, again from what I have seen.

Re: Update to my previous comment.
I am referring to the speaker grille, the black plastic? mesh oval unit that fits over the top of the dashboard (only) radio speaker. It appears to be attached by 4 vertical bolts with nuts, but also sits adjacent to the defroster vent. The lip closest to the interior (away from the windshield) is raised 1/4 inch above the dash. Can it be remounted flush with the dash?- Top

Re: Update to my previous comment.
Rich, the grill on my 63 has been up 1/4 inch since I've had the car, long time, I've yet to figure out how to get it to seat properly. I've had it out at least 6 times. I have heard that for many cars that this is normal.
