Feedback on Ron's Auto Restoration, Fitchburg, MA

Hi,

We (Dad and I) are getting ready to send out a 65 396 coupe for a potential frame-off restoration. Car is currently a good "driver", but needs to have slight flair and third tail-lights removed. We would normally do the work together, but both our day jobs won't allow the type of time required. We've heard good and bad things about Ron's in Fitchburg, MA. Any feedback - good, bad, or indifferent would be very helpful. Ron's advertises that they done a lot of quality work (a couple of 99-plus point cars) to NCRS specs, but...

I have been doing business with Ron since 1998 and have had nothing but positive experience. Over these years Ron did two frame-off restorations for me ('62 and '58). Both cars were 99+ NCRS and Bloomington Gold. The '58 scored 99.3% first time out at the Florida Reginal. I find Ron very knowledgable, honest and a pleasure to work with. His workmanship and quality are excellent. I will soon be sending him my 1965 396/425HP coupe. If you need any other information, please contact me directly.

You might want to also consider Eastern Corvettes? Contact there would be
Steve Hack - 513-553-2080 Steve is an Instructor at Bloomington Gold workshops
and he does complete restorations.

I have heard Eastern Corvette's does excellent work, but they are in Ohio and I believe he is looking for something more local.

I engaged Ron to perform an inspection for me a few years ago and he did it quickly and for a very reasonable fee. I cannot provide feedback on his restorations though.

It's a Judging School. We have it every year. It's really 20-30 NE NCRS guys walking around Ron's eating donuts, drinking coffee, and listening to somebody smart talk about something to do with Corvettes. You'll get to meet Ron; see the shop; see his work; and, talk to lots of guys who've had work done there. Decide for yourself.

Ron did the body work and body drop on my 67 convertible and his work was super. He's a great guy, easy to work with and I wouldn't send any new projects anywhere else.

Call Ron and talk to him, tell him your concerns.
Then ask him for a few names you can call. Talk to the owners and maybe you can see their cars if they are nearby.
Add all that up and anything else you hear. Good luck

I have heard way more good things than bad about Ron and his work. Personally I thinks he does great work. I have seen Ron standing along side owners when they have their cars judged at Regional and National events, must say something about him and his work.
