    Crower Rods

Since I still get "pinged" occasionaly from folks wondering if they can still order Crower rods, I thought I would simply mention that we can do another group order if enough folks are still interested. I was able to place a good sized group order last week for everyone who was able to make it last month. The group purchase isn't limited to just the small journal rods either.

      Tracy-

Dunno what they used to go for (since the small journal rods are NLA), but the group price was $450 + 25 shipping to Scott then to each of us. I bought a set for futureproofing....

The small journal Sportsman rods are no longer a catalog item - special order only, and a buy of ten or so sets saves some bucks.

        Scott has the details.

Whatever the price, they are cheap insurance to save your engine, especially mechanical lifter engines, from a rod failure, which is not uncommon as the early 327 rods were weak.

Beginning in about 1966 a better rod went into production that has a little hump of material adjacent to the bolt seat, which was the weak point.

As long as they pass Magnaflux inspection I think these late rods are okay for base an L-79, but if you install a mechanical lifter cam in these later hydraulic lifter engines and want to use the additional 500- 1000 useable revs, then I definitely recommend upgrading the rods.

I'd probably be interested if we can get a group of 10 together.

I paid $489 for a set a couple of years ago when they stocked them. So $450 seems like good price.
