    C2 console paint touch-up

Is there an off-the-shelf paint to touch up a 66 roadster bright blue console?
Any tips for restoring the paint on the console?

It has a few scratches. It's the first thing people see and they just have to comment on. I can appreciate that it's original but I'm getting tired defending the scratches... I don't mind and I may leave it alone and keep the scratches, but, oman, the mint consoles look great too. Car is otherwise mostly unrestored original. Seat belt buckles are also a little scratched, looks its age, not a bad thing, and compliments the console.

    thanks

You can get the correct spray cans of dye from the various vendors.

Why dye? C2 console paint touch-up

      Steve,

Why do most people refer to this as dye and not paint?

Seems like paint to me, but it's called "dye" on the can, don't really know what the difference is?

          Bob,

Without a picture it is hard to imagine the condition of your console. When I look at a car I always ask myself "do all the pieces of the puzzle fit'. By that I mean are there things that stand out as being over or under restored based on the rest of the area. In your case if the scratches don't bother you and they compliment the rest of the interior then other than a little brush touch up like you would do for a paint chip or scratch on the exterior I would leave it alone. By completely restoring it you might make the rest of your interior the topic of discussion. Remember, it is only original once.

            Gary,

If you want a color match, the vendors sell it as interior dye. I don't think paint would work on carpet.

I used red paint on my seat backs then final coat with red dye for color match.
