    BB HOOD PAINTING QUESTION...

Hi... THANKS!!!!!! to all who addressed my LAST BB Hood on a SB car post/question, HOWEVER the answer is still kinda clouded [to me] because answers indicated the hood support was located on the LEFT/DRIVER side [like normal BB]... BUT the NCRS JUDGING MANUAL seems to say they were mounted on the RIGHT/PASS. SIDE like normal SB cars... sooo I'm still confused, but decided to go with the LEFT/DRIVER normal BB side because it seems like less work. PS: WHY did Chevrolet do this at all???... I'm guessing the AC BB Cars might have a clearance problem w/the compressor if the support was on the RIGHT/PASS. side, but it's just a guess.

    NOW FOR MY NEW QUESTION...
This is a "simple" question I think!... where EXACTLY does the semi-gloss black under-hood paint color meet the body color paint? I'm painting my hood THIS weekend so I'm kinda rushed for a answer. I THINK it's at the seam line [grove] of the under hood panel and the outer panel/skin meeting, but I'm not sure. If it is here, is the "grove" itself black or the body color? ANY PICTURES WOULD BE GREAT. My e-mail is dougfairbanks@optonline.net.

SB hoods do not have this grove and the 2 colors meet at the inside corner of the first 90 degree direction change, I believe... but like I said BB hoods are not the same in this area.

THANKS in advance for any help!

here is aphoto of the blackout line on the hood. Down near the hinge the line will be straight(not follow the hood indentation) and will fade/fog off to the body color, as in the hood was on the car when blacked out and that area was fairly inaccessible to mask a line.....

The reason for the confusion, is that the writers of the manual, have never seen one, so naturally they dont know any thing about it. No one knows where this myth came from, except from Nolands book. Now, that book is a great work, but it is not the gospel. Notice that Noland documents very well most things in the book, but in this case, he just repeats a story and offers an example to document the anomaly. When examined, the example proves to be unverifiable. It even proves not to exibit the features that Noland states that it should have. Noland even get confused on the description of these required features himself. Hey folks, until and unless we find an example, we should remove all references to this thing from our judging manual and not further this very persistent myth.
