    LT-1 Cam

I purchased a 12364054 cam from GMPP two years ago. This is a kit w/cam and lifters. The cam is #3972182. Is this the correct (original type) LT-1 cam? Thanks for the info.

The cast in number is usually referred to as the "casting number", but it is really the part number of the finished camshaft - may be the entire seven digit number or just the last four on some later cams.

Once the dowel pin is installed it becomes an "assembly" with a different number, and this is the service part number - 3972178 in the case of the LT-1 camshaft, and, as stated, 3972182 is the correct finished LT-1 camshaft part number, which is molded into the casting blank, so you have the real McCoy.
