1972 Wiper actuator

I have a wiper actuator for my 1972 coupe. Right now the color on it is what I would call a gray metal finish. What is the proper finish to this wiper actuator? I asked about a re-plating of this piece, but that seems SO expensive to do, not counting having to put all new seals etc...(My actuator works fine)I have a Eastwood catalog and they a spray finish for "Cadium Plating" a 3 step process. Would this "kit" leave me with a correct color on my actuator? ANYBODY used this Eastwood kit???

Original was zinc/cad plated with gold dichromate wash leaving a yellow/gold finish with 'rainbow' hue undertones. Eastwood does make a paint kit for simulating gold dichromate, but you won't fool any judges with it because the finished product is easily detectable as different from the factory original finish. It might make 'er look nice a pretty for a show 'n shine crowd...

Nah....I'm NOT trying to fool anyone here. Ha ha!!

Getting the car back to the look it deserves.

Anyone recommend a "plating business" that can get me the correct color that Jack describes...

Dave ---- There are several who advertise that they restore vacuum actuators in the Driveline.

Dave reference the expense of new seals. Long, long time ago there was an article in Vette Vues on how to replace the seal that is in the vacuum cannister and seals the movement of the shaft. I tried it and it works. Purchase a silicone baby bottle nipple, my purchase about 20 years ago they came two in a package. Using a spend bullet casing or anything that will give a clean cut, remove a small amount of the nipple end for the rod diameter to have a good seal. Very easy to install into the vacuum cannister. Like I mentioned it works and I still have the extra silicone baby bottle nipple to use if the installed one fails. No one can see the clear nipple under the accordian rubber dust cover.

I have wiper problem. It won't pump water. Is there a vendor that sells
a rebuild kit ?1972 car.

You should have a three port pump. If you do, go to any auto store and you shoud be able to pick up a replacement pump or a rebuild kit, just the soft rubber parts, I beleive, for a cheap price. If you need the pump, a lot of vendors sell them, if the local parts store do not have one.
