I am in the process of replacing all of the vacuum/washer lines for my 69' coupe (headlights, wiper door, headlamp/windshield washers) and have a couple of questions:
(1)Is there any reason why GM has the headlight actuator tubes pointing outward instead of inward for the 'red' vacumm connections? It seems to be a bigger pain routing the hoses for this configuration. When I flipped the actuators from side to side, it appears that I have more room with them pointing in vs out. Is there any reason I haven't figured out why the factory has them pointing out? My hood and everything seems to open/close with no interference and the hoses have a much more gradual bend this way. I want to make sure I'm doing the right thing before closing this all back up.
(2)I can't find any documentation that shows where the vacuum line for the heater control connects (no A/C car). The configuration I have now looks like it was cobbled together by a previous owner- The heater vacuum line is actually connected to the yellow vacuum line for the headlights via a crude barbed fitting just inserted into the side of the yellow hose. This doesn't seem right- Does the heater control connect directly to manifold vacuum? Does it connect with a 'T' fitting somewhere else in another line? Does it need any kind of check valve?
Any advice or pictures would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Elm
