    67 Seat Restoration

To all who plan on using the Foam Padding available through aftermarket suppliers, be prepared to have a second helper and willing to be sore in every part of your body when finished doing the seat bottoms. Seems the foam suppliers molds are not worth a S***, maybe a little to much Foam than should be. Hopefully some Florida sun will help them shrink the leather covers down in the center area, with a little weight put on them. The seat backs were not that bad at all to install, they turned out quite well. Thought I'd share my Saturdays experience with all of you on this subject.

Always good to share hands on information with my fellow Corvette owners.

    Re: 67 Seat Restoration

This is nothing new. It has always been the case, and if you look at original leathers, they are not made like the repros. The bolster pad is not sewn into the cover assembly, but glued separately to the foam. This makes the wings stand up and the bottom lie flat. If you use new seatcovers, with installed bolsters, and new foam, which is too thick, the results look like a two week old tick on a dogs behind.

Don, I had to go to a chiropractor

and with vinyl seat bottoms. Did it in the winter time, and wound up with just augmenting my original seat foam with backpacker bedding foam.

Pulling those f'en clips through was just the starters, then trying to set the cover around the seat frame became an impossibility. I used more curse words on this project then ever in my life.

But the job didn't come out too bad with the augmented 67 foam.

Agreed, the backs were not that bad.
