    1967 Big Block Hood Search

I am looking for an original big block hood or an exact reproduction. Who manufactures the best reproduction hoods with the correct fiberglass thickness and the correct rivets? However, I would rather have an original hood, if anyone has one that they want to sell let me know.

Thanks for your help, Rodney Armstrong

Eckler's in florida does about the best job with any fiberglass Corvette parts. They have an 800 listing. They also have all the latching parts etc. that you will need.

I have tried a lot of repro. hoods and have not found any as good as the original. The pressed glass ones are not as strong as the original because they are not press molded they just use a dubble sided mold (not under the pressure). The result is same thickness less material. Just feel the weight.

Rodney, Contact Bob Carusso @ Corvette Country In Lakewood, New Jersey 732-901-1981. This is a good restoration house and I believe He has one or two originals in stock. Good Luck

Ecklers phone number 800-327-4868, web-www.ecklers.com,e-mail sales@ecklers.net or techsvc@ecklers.net,custsvc@ecklers.net. Ecklers is located in central florida. Hours are mon/thurs 0800-1800 est,Fri 0800-1700 est, sat. 0900-1400 est. Ecklers bought all the GM mid-year molds to my knowledge. They use GM restoration parts. A 1967 B/B hood ecklers pn.10409 is listed for $549.00 each. You can get a 10% discount for joining the Ecklers resto club for $25.00 and they even discount that membership price 10%. Good luck GRR.

            Re: Ecklers repro fiberglass

All of Eckler's parts are made by either Corvette Image or Sermershime. No one seems to know what Eckler did with the original midyear molds that they paid a ton of money to GM for apparently some years ago. The only stuff they make themselves are the one-piece front ends (hand-laid). Its a shame that they dont use the original molds. The guy from Corvette Image made his own molds from NOS pieces.

              Look out for "reproductions"

I take exception to Eckler's as a supplier of restoration parts as follows: My 66 has a radiator shroud and a complete rear "clip" from them. Neither come even close to looking like an original. When I contacted them about the defective shroud (they cut off one of the four mounting hole pads), I was told that I had it too long before notifying them of the defects. The rear glass is definitely the wrong color, but the local Corvette shop had installed it before I found that out. - Dave
