C2 Spare Tire Stowage part number on glass!

Well lets talk, yet again about the C2 spare tire stowage area.
The 63/64 TI&JM, page 74, states that there are NO manufactures's logos or part numbers exist on these.

Members, however have posted before that such is not true from cars they have seen. Well here is another one. I purchased mine (64) in 67 and took the spare tire storage stuff out in early 70's and put in a corner. PS the original spare was still in the holder and still is.

An inspection shows that on the cover at the base of the "V" an oval with MFG inside it exists along with 19146 below. The housing also has the same logo with part number 19154 below it. "MFG is Molded Fiber Glass Corp, Ashtabula, Ohio ref John Hinckley Oct 23, 2005 post."

It seems that many members will be searching forever to find a storage unit which does not have any logos or pn.

Let's hear what other members have found.
    Thank you.

Alan, I sold my 66 five years ago, but, during the painting process I found a paper tag with the part number and a date of Feb. ?? 1966 on it glued to the inside of the carrier. FWIW, the car was manufactured in early 66.

I was intrigued and posted on this site. However, no one had ever seen such a tag. To preserve it, I taped clear plastic over it and left it there for future restorers. There were not any part numbers visible on the outside of the carrier.

Alan,my 63 tub has all the numbers that yours has. Just suggest you ignore the JG on this one.

        Hi Alan:

Almost every apparently original tub and lid that I have seen had the logo and numbers you reference. I always assumed that the reference in the TIM&JG to "no part number" meant that there was no GM part number, such as "3825564" on the parts. I will be interested to hear from some of the experts on this board regarding what the TIM&JG is referring to.

By the way, I recently picked up a junk tub that was old and badly damaged, with the intention of using parts of it to repair another tub that I have. Interestingly, the old junk tub did *not* have the MFG logo and number in the usual place.

          Alan,

I too asked about that on this forum awhile back when I found the same Logo and number inside the V of a carrier That seemed original ,and got mixed responces. At the time I only heard from the people who didn't have the markings. Your post seems to show others that do have them ! ??

I noted it on the page of my JG that explains about the carrier, as I have with other incorrect or omitted items I have found while restoring my 66.When I am done I plan to turn it into the review board and see what happens !

              Allen,

I am just finishing refurbishing my 1965 convertable and today I looked at the spare tire cover after reading your message,. while the car is a 1965 it was rebuilt approx 1986 to 8 and the tub and carrier may have been replaced at that time, The cover does indeed have the MFG logo and the number 19146 is also there. But the tub itself has no logo or numbers on it. car is late may.
