When I look in the Assembly Manual or Nolands book and see a nut or a bolt with a GM part#, say 122260 BOLT for example, how do I know what this is? Is there a cross reference somewhere that describes the nuts, bolts, and washers used?
I just went through this with my 68 restoration project.
Often , but not always, I was able to look up the part in my GM parts book and it also gives a description such as 1/4 x 20 3/8" long and then you know what to buy. You need a GM parts book to do it and it is mot 100% foolproof but most of the time I was able to go from part number to actual description.
Good luck,

Paragon also sells a nice laminated chart that shows all the bolts and sizes. It measures 15" by 21" and includes their part number next to each bolt so if you need it you know what to order. I purchased mine years ago and it comes in real handy.

Is there a part number on this apocryphal bolt chart? I can't find it in their catalog. Does it apply to all model years, or are there multiple editions? How much does/did it cost?
I just looked at mine and there is no part number.
The bolts are all displayed in full size with all markings, and sizes and finishes listed. Call 1-800-882-4688 and ask them if they still sell it.
I think I paid less than 20 dollars for it but have had it for quite a few years. I think they advertised it in their catalog at one time. I don't know if it is legal for me to have it photocopied and laminated. It sure is handy especially when you go to the hardware store and say " I need one of these".
I have found that I can get some (not all) of the bolts at hardware stores and auto parts stores but Paragon has them all and their part numbers are listed on the chart. bolts range in sizes from 1/4 " to 1/2 and it shows 97 bolts of all types.

Be careful using Paragon as your sole source for information on correct bolts. Over the years I have found that many of the bolts Paragon sells that they say are correct for my 67 have incorrect head markings, incorrect finishes, and/or incorrect length. The Paragon chart is a great starting point, but be sure to double-check with other sources if you want to be sure that a given bolt is really correct for your specific application.
I agree with Joe. Paragon is not consistant with quality and accuracy. Several bolts/fasteners that I have ordered from Paragon have been either wrong styly, wrong length, poor markings or all of the above.
