    Positive Cable

for 67 SB no A/C. I find Delco part number 4F22P on Delco site. Parts guy no help can't give me description or length or part number. The one that came off is 23" his book said 19". I can order 4F22P from him just want to make sure it fits.

    Thanks Kevin

      Special order

even if these are the right part numbers they are superceded, but the original can be ordered from Lansing MI. two weeks.

        Re: Special order

        Kevin,

Based on others I have seen, they are NOT configured like your originals. If you "need" to have the car moving ASAP, get a cheap one from Pep Boys, but order a repro from Lectric Limited or one of their dealers. Do not assume that it will look like your original just because the number matches. It is not!

          Pat,

Thanks I just wanted Delco replacements like the battery. But it looks like my trouble might not be cables still checking. Still going to order cables.

            Re: Special order

The original '63-68 spring ring design was superceded in 1969 (or 70, CRS disease) and all subsequent replacments were of the new design with the wider flange and the overstress protection built in. The early design made it too easy for mechanics to compress the spring WAY too much, causing permanent deformation and eventually a loose connection.

              Re: Special order

My positive is an old replacement labeled Delco and another word I think Packard, my negative is original. I'm not worried about judging just wanted something Delco in #2 and close to original length.

              Thanks

Originals were generally 4 ga except the copper clad aluminum versions in the '70s, those were 2 ga to make up for the difference in conductivity between copper and aluminum.
