    67 Radiator Support

Late 1967 A O Smith body. Fairly original unmolested car except it has a A/C radiator support. Is it real or memorex?? P. S. Southern car, no rust, no hit, ownership traced to 1978. It is possible all late A O Smith cars came with A/C supports?

    Wayne-----

I wasn't aware that there was a difference between A/C and non-A/C radiator supports for 1967. I show radiator support GM #3894595 for all 1967 with 327 and GM #3894597 for all 1967 with 427. If there was a difference, then it must have been a PRODUCTION-only difference; no other SERVICE parts were EVER available.

      Re: 67 Radiator Support

Hi Guys, The difference between the air cond. support and the non air cond. support on the 1966 and 67 small block 327 is that the non air cond. support has a "X" brace across the large opening made of 1/4 round stock. The air cond cars had the condensor bolted up tight against the front of the support and the "X" would probably cause and interference. I would guess that when ordered one you got one with the "X" brace which could easily be removed for an air cond. car. Hope this helps, Page Campbell

Page --- Checking the Long Island catalog, they show that air cars have different rad supports from '63 thru '67 (they only deal in C2's); both for 327 and 427 cars. In addition to the x-bracing, I believe there is an extra hole for the drier-to-condenser pipe.

Know for a fact that my '65 air car never had any x-bracing; I guess they figured the condenser added the equivalent rigidity.
