    1962 engine ID

I need help identifying the correct HP engine for my 1962. It currently has the
    following:

    a) Block # 3892657 1966-1967?

    b) cylinder heads # 3782461 E152- 1965 340-360hp

    c) Cast Iron Intake Manifold #3866922 1965 250hp

    d) Carburetor WCFB no tag & may not be original. 250hp

    e) Valve Covers are the 7 finned Cast Alloy type. 340-360hp.

    f) Radiator is aluminum part #315091? D62, 3150896 D720 Inlet casting number

    g) Distributor no tag but appears to be OE with cable driven tach.

    h) Rear end # 3789812 H275

    I) Transmission is a 4-speed Muncie.

    j) Tach redlines at 5300 RPMs,

    k) Non-Fuelie.

If the above info. is not sufficient, how else can I id the proper hp engine?
Is it possible to get a copy of the "line sheet", window sticker and first owners name?
Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

    Regards, New Member.

    Re: 1962 engine ID

    Dan--
If the heads are 461 heads with E152 casting date (don't know if you mistyped or misinterpreted)--that comes out to May 15, 1962. Your radiator is an April 62 radiator--so the heads would be very much in line with that. You didn't indicate what the VIN in on your car, but I'm guessing that it would be late 12000 or early 13000. If that is the case, with the 5300 redline tach, I'd be inclined to believe that yours was a 300-HP car originally. (Large-valve heads, low-rpm tach was 300HP)
You didn't indicate exhaust manifold numbers (header instead) but if you have 3797901 and 3797902, that would further confirm for me.
The bad news? Everything else you listed is incorrect.
Is it possible for line sheet, window sticker, and first owner's name? Only if you a) get extremely lucky or b) employ a private detective and get extremely lucky!
Good luck--we're happy to see what we can do to help. I have approximately 1000 62's in my file with original dates on some components from each--may be able to help you at least nail down what you should have, even if it isn't there any longer.
