56 trunk lock

I was adjusting trunk lock latch to have a snugger trunk fit. Locked and unlocked trunk several times adjusting latch. Closed trunk one more time and now it will not unlock. Key goes in and turns from 12 o'clock position to about 5 o'clock position as it should. There is a sound like it is releasing but it does not open up. Any ideas?

try pushing down on trunk, rotate key to 5 oclock and pray it opens. mike

Tried pushing, pulling, etc.. Any other suggestions?

I had the same thing happen..what a sinking feeling. I did as Mike suggested and pushed in at the bottom center of the trunk lid...eventually it cleared and opened.
