    Transistor amplifier mounting

In the AIM it shows the amp mounted next to an existing hole, is this the big hole for the grommett with the 3-prong connection? AIM(page F362 K66 A2)

No, the amp is mounted in the corner of the front end, the wiring for the TI is routed with the foreward lamp harness, over the edge of the rad support then oner to the amp. I believe the hole you are looking at is the hole for the grommet that mates to the jumper from the parking lamp to mount to

        Bill,
I believe I know the general location of the amp , what I was asking is in the assembly manual it shows the 3 holes for the amp mounting the reference point for the location of the furthest right hole for the amp shows it to be 1.0 from an existing hole? (see AIM) What existing hole are they referring to?

          Jerry -

The only existing hole in that area at the front of the inner fender is the one for the parking lamp wire grommet.

            Jerry,

I can send a pic of the back side of the skirt that shows the amplifier bolt locations if needed. I just replaced my amp and bolts so the bolts should show well in the pic. The only other hole in the area is the hole for the parking lamp, as John Hinckley mentioned.

I'd like to have a picture of that too if it's not too much trouble.

Please send a pic if you could to jw69vert@yahoo.com. So I am to assume that the hole for the amp is one inch to the left of the grommett? I do have another hole there that was why I was questioning it. I have a wire clip mounted in there also so I didnt know what hole to use as a reference point.

                    Michael,

Thanks for posting the picture. Picture posting takes all the guesswork and possible misinterpretations out of a reply. Man, what a help to all those new Corvette owners who would like to work on their cars. Thanks a million.

Would someone have photos of the original inner fender and hole locations for the TI amp on a 70 corvette?
I'm missing the TI ignition system and would like to reinstall it.
                      Thanks

Re: Pic Of T.I. Amp Bolt Location

                        Wolf,

I don't know what method the factory used to determine the TI location in 1970, but I can tell you it was not very effective. I have seen them anywhere from close enough that it created a notch in the edge of the hood to so far outboard that we had to judge it by Brail. We could barely reach that one with an arm all the way into the hood opening.

My advice is to put it wherever you wish on the front of the driver's side of the inner fender.
                        Terry
