I have looked at many gas caps lately and the more I think about what types are described in the Judging Reference manuals I become more confussed. The gas tanks have a vent hose running across the top of the tank to the gas door area. Here is where I begin to question what is correct. The reference manual shows three examples, non with either VENTED or NON-VENTED on the top.
I have been told that the correct cap should be a NON-VENTED cap since the tank is vented. Then I have discussed the thought, since the tank is vented is the cap suppost to read VENTED referring to the whole system or NON-VENTED referring to the cap. All of the VENTED caps that I have seen do not have any vent holes in them which leads me to believe that they are not vented and supports my idea that it is the labeled to describe the fuel tank system. Have others questioned this or am I way off base?
