    58 oil dipstick tube

58 "739" block: The lower half of the dipstick tube does not fit tight in the block. It can be pulled out with a small amount of force. I am afraid it will come loose and get bounced around by the crank. There is not bolt holding it tight like Pass Manual says. How can I tighten this friction fit tube? I was thinking of distorting the tube a little in a vice then tapping it back into the block with a hammer. Do I need to do anything at all? Thanks, Ken

Ususally, the BW to fix is to buy a new tube with fresh metal for the interference press fit. I've not see 'jury rig' approaches (plate the tube to increase thickness, use 'glue', Etc.) work very well...
