    57 Exhaust Manifold

I have removed the exhaust manifolds for reconditioning. The choke heat tube that runs through the manifold is broken. This would would explain why the top hole was welded shut and the choke system removed from the vehicle. The bottom hole has a bolt in it. Can the internal tube be replaced and the hole drilled out? I do not plan on replacing the choke in the mear future, but I would like to fix the manifold while it is off the car. If it cannot be repaired, I will just weld the bottom hole shut, and replace the manifold when I install the choke system.

Mike, would that be bulk tubing or can I order the part from a vette supplier? Would you happen to know the tube size?

You can buy that tube from at least one of the usual Corvette parts vendors. I think I got mine from Paragon. It comes in stainless.

Careful when redrilling the manifold, You want a interference fit so that the tube needs to be driven into place.

Wait till you get the tube and then measure it with micrometer or dial calipers and find a bit about .002 undersize.

              good luck,
