    Hi,

Wanted to know what the correct part number is for a correct pair of 1967 exhaust tips. Thanks.

GM #3819573. However, this part was discontinued some time ago.

      Joe,

Thanks! Are the part numbers stamped on the outside?

Replacements (over the counter circa early 70's) carried the numbers on the outside, originals did not. Also look at the thickness of the metal, and the position of the weld seam (should be on the bottom) the originals are stainless, but will show an attraction to a magnet.

Bill; I was under the impression that all orginal tips had the part numbers stamped on them. I have two NOS ones that do not have any part number. I wandered why they didn't. Did the thickness of the metal differ in orginals to over the counter?

As far as I know, there were no part numbers on the factory installed originals and the metal is very thin.

No part numbers, thin metal, weld on the bottom on original items. I believe most of the judging guides have caught up with this by now. In '73 I bought a new set from Chevy for my '65, they had part numbers, and I was Mad as heck! I had paid good $$$ for a part that was not the same as the one I took off the car (and kept) Later variations had the weld seam running just about anywhere, including on the top. "low bidder!" on service parts.

Chrome tips for side exhausts are available from many Corvette vendors. Check the catalogs...Volunteer, Paragon.... etc.
