I finally had time to get back to re assembly of my 66 Telescopic Steering Column. It's been a while.....
A little frustrated at this point.
Here are my Questions.
1. The wiring from the directional signal switch, does it run out the bottom of the bell housing and up through the escutcheon and then through the mounting bracket or does it run underneathe the column? I have no provision for the Directional Wiring clamp as shown in the Chassis Service manual. If it does run underneathe how is it held in place?
2. Bigger issue! The inner mast shaft slot seems to be 180 dg. out. When I line up the slot for the side Guide bolt, the cutout on the inner mast flange on top is on the opposite side from the Directional signal hole on the Bell making the directional switch 180 dg. out. Any ideas why? It worked before, just can't remember how. The Chassis Service Manual also states that the Directional Housing wire guide must be in line with the flange cut out. If mine is set up this way the Directional switch is way out.
Obviously I have been at this to long and just can't think straight. Doesn't make sense.
Scratched the **** out of my new paint job on the column too, know how to fix that. I hate when things don't go together as planned.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. I hope I am clear in my explanation.
Thanks,
Nick
