    Instrument panel removal, '63

My Shop Manual does not describe how to remove the instrument panel and the L&R pad assemblies (gull wings). I am assuming that I need to drill out the rivets located on both the L&R sides of the instrument panel near each door jam. But what else am I suppose to do? I can not locate any other fasteners. EVERYTHING else has been removed from the interior! Is this a very difficult operation to do?

I am sorry to post this message if this process is obvious to others, but I am at a lost.

    Thanks.

    Mornin' Gary,

Your post says "everything else is out", assuming this is true, removal of the dash assembly as a unit is probably your best bet. You are correct, the five rivits on each side must be drilled out, also you must carefully break the bond between the dash and console (directly below the radio). There are also screws behind the lower windshield molding to be removed. Once this is done, remove the dash assembly, at this point you can easly remove the instrument cluster from the dash. If you need more info, you may email me off line. Bill
