    c1 vacume source for washers

Can anyone tell me where the vacume is picked up for the vacume can for the washers on my 60 with powerglide. I have the hollow stud at the rear of the carb. It feeds the trans modulator and the distributor advance can using a "T" located in front of the distributor. There is a port at the rear of the carb in the throttle plate which has a plug. In Noland's book I have seen this as a source for the 61 or 62. Then he talks about the hollow carb mounting stud but it looks like these are for standard shift cars. Can anyone with a powerglide with washers post a photo or let me know how to pick up the vacume?

Also where does the vacume can get mounted on the fender skirt or the splash pan.

Don't know the answer to your vacuum source question.

Thanks Mike, The original splash pans went the way of the ghost before I got the car as a basket case and the cannister was missing. It came with new pans and I don't recall if the locating holes are punched. I assume that early cars that got the wiper washer as an option would have the holes drilled at the time of assembly, or did they all come with the holes prepunched? If I need to accurately locate new holes is there a template or print anywhere for locating them ala 61-62 or is anywhere on the pan acceptable?

Anyone know the source for the vacume pick up?

On my 58 powerglide, the vacuum source for the washer system is the back of the throttle plate. I have a 90 degree brass fixture there. The hollow carburetor stud serves the modulator for the powergilde.

            Don -

The washers illustration for base-engine cars on page 261 in the '58-'60 section of Noland's book shows the vacuum source for the washers as a fitting at the rear of the carb baseplate.

Most repro pans are prepunched. Otherwise, the standard 61-62 location is correct--don't have a template at this point--let me know next week if you haven't found one.
